Chestnut-Backed Chickadee Print and Greeting Card

I've fielded a lot of requests lately, and my list never seems to get shorter! This time, I did a Chestnut-Backed Chickadee.

These birds are peak Humboldt. They live along the Pacific Coast along the rim of the ocean from California all the way up to Alaska through Canada. They're an unusual little song bird--they like dark coniferous forests that are damp and moist. So they fit right into the area we have here where I live, and it's no surprise someone asked me if I had completed one. 

Every time someone makes a suggestion, I learn a bit more about the flora and fauna of the area I call home. Most of the birds suggested to me are ones I've never heard of. And this particular bird was no exception. It's always fun to discover what a bird looks like in that initial search, finding where their primary geographic habitat is, and how much photo reference there might be. Sometimes they're really popular, easily photographed birds. Other times, they're relatively rare or in areas of the world where there don't seem to be a lot of birding photographers. It can be challenging to find legal imagery for some of the requests, because any photography of them isn't shared much. This little one was photographed by Michelle Madson, and uploaded to Unsplash, where I get a lot of my inspirational imagery.
