I got this piece done recently on my livestreams. It's called "Dragonfly Daydreams" and was requested by a lady who has dropped by my booth at various events several times, seeking her dragonfly!

There is a regionally famous Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary in Arcata nearby, a location I've needed to visit for quite some time now. I haven't been able to get myself up there, but the website images seem quite lovely. It's also interesting to note that it is also a wastewater management location for the city.

I finally got it done over three livestream sessions. You can watch them here:

I am happy with how it turned out, as the textures are a bit of a stretch for me in "letting things go". I leaned into the flatness of the paint for most of the image instead of giving it a three-dimensional effect as I usually do. This allows the overall texture of the canvas to register a bit more, and it softens the image a tad. In my head, it looks a little more rustic and romantic.

I also tried something with the suggested "Art Nouveau" framing mechanism. I tried to make it appear like it was reminiscent of dragonfly wings, and I think it turned out quite nicely. I was able to incorporate a sense of "stained glass" as well, so it was a nice combination.

The speedpaint video is embedded below, but here is a link just in case: https://makertube.net/w/omUAoyYcLejSrExdxkVVNL
