100 HANDS
This is a collection of hand images was originally put together as a personal project, attempting to get to a total of 100. It developed after I realized I was drawing a lot of hands from photo reference and thought, "Well, if I'm going to do that, why not draw the hands of people I know?" So I asked family and friends to contribute hand-selfies, with the intent to somehow assemble the images into a booklet or something for distribution.
So the majority of the hands below have a story because they come from people I know. The images represent a life with hopes and dreams and connections of its own. These hands have toiled to accomplish things, or in some cases – my niece's son JD, for example – are at the beginning of life's journey. I'm excited to bring this project to fruition, as I'll be using it to learn new rendering techniques and styles beyond photographic realism. It's a very exciting endeavor for me thus far!
