This teacup illustration is of a cup that belonged to my Grandmother-in-Law's personal collection. She had gathered and been gifted a huge variety of different teacups for many years, and the family used them at almost every gathering that had a meal. They get brought out for tea with dessert. Over the years, they became a type of family heirloom that we cherished and valued.

I leapt at the opportunity to paint them and have made several cards and a calendar from the photographic references I took over several months. We know each one of them has a story, but most of those tales are lost to time's impact on memory. It was important to me to visually express the delicacy, beauty, and meaning we have imbued on these simple items we love so much.

So this card will appeal to lovers of quiet and stillness, of ritual and books. 

This 5"x7" card features a dark blue cup with bright reflections in the porcelain surface. The background wraps around the card's fold to the back. It comes with a white envelope, and is packaged in a clear plastic sleeve with a resealable adhesive flap closure.
